Thank you for your response. That was my first thought. The metal rod does go all the way through the stone. If it is some sort of dentistry it is rather ingenious. Thought it could be some kind of fishing weight but growing up on my grandfathers head boat out of Cape May it did not resemble any thing I saw and I saw a lot of funny rigs.. If it is dental I’m sure glad that profession has advanced.

You are correct. Once I think I have something figured out I realize I do not. That is why I generally hunt aimlessly so I don’t miss anything. lol

I did watch Merrill’s video earlier this morning. I am wondering if this is another marketing strategy from minelab. Introduce the X Terra Pro and have phenomenal sales in China. I’m sure it is a superb machine. In about eighteen months they will launch the X Terra Pro multi IQ and have everyone over there scratching there heads if they should upgrade. Merrill put up a video a while ago with some Minelab statistics from their parent company. I need to watch that again. It was very informative and gave some insight to some of our questions and observations. Enough serious stuff. lol. Going to go out detecting before Super Bowl for a couple hours. Thank you for your input. I was going to go right out and buy the newest dream machine. Thanks to posts like yours and watching Merrill’s videos and insightful information I am now sitting on the fence. Still having great finds with my 800. Going to do a bit more research. Minelab may have gotten a bit over their skies on this one Advertisement wise. Still really appreciate the company.

I was ready to buy new sun ray wireless that Joe Demarco was developing and releasing but with Joe’s passing not sure what route I’m going. I like the stock wireless my 800 came with but Joe and some fellow hunters suggest I am not hearing as much as I could with another set up.

make sure you coil wire is clean and secured properly to controller.. Make sure coil is clean below skid plate. Just something simple you may have already thought to check.
