I had the Equinox 800 & Deus 1, sold them both as warranty had run out on them & I had heard about the release of Equinox 900 which I though may be a good move to get. In UK there is a long wait for Equinox 900 or Manticore (not interested in Manticore) as well. I saw a Legend for sale on a well known used dealer website that had only been used for 1 hour so as new, I decided to give one a try. Have to say I am pretty impressed given the price, it finds tiny stuff too. Nokta have a really good customer relations person in the form of Dilek who keeps customers updated with whats happening regarding updates & accessories & seem to really want to keep their customers informed. Never known another company as good as this. I am thinking on a Deus 2 also which I am looking at getting soon, trouble is I have this nagging in my head saying why spend all that money as the Legend will probably find just about everything the Deus 2 will so save my money. I liked the Deus 1 a lot & if the Deus 2 is an improvement it has to be a great detector.
I currently use the legend and have for a year now. Prior I was using an equinox 600. I feel from my own hunts it is relatively the same as a nox. I run the iron filter low. It may false once on iron , but on backswing it will cancel out. This is different than my experience with the nox where it would continue to false. I havlent dug near the nails or small iron as I did with nox. Vdi is sketchy in a deep target, though it will though up a good vdi from time time. If you use that and the tone it’s giving you, then most of the time it will be a good target. Tone is usually always there. Set tone breaks, and pitch higher in those good vdis. (40 and higher). This helps abundantly on something deep.
I am learning to set-up and use the legend, it is my first machine, bought due to my research and your review. (OK mostly your review) .Wonderful way to watch the sun rise at the Lake. So far I have cut down on digging some of the poop but I believe that I am the bottle cap king of Chicago.
Hi Merrill, I have been reading your review of Legend at iratemetaldetectors and watching your YouTube channel. You had mentioned unreliable target ID and loosing gold at ID 11 (and poor pinpoint). Have you tested Legend with 1.09 update? Are those problems still there, are there any improvements with performance?
The losing of gold at 10-11 has been resolved. Those numbers used to be notched out. The target ID on deep signals is still a bit below other machines but all machines struggle to ID deep signals
I will be ordering mine monday :) I used to Metal detect when the Garret was on top! So Like an idiot I purchased The AT Max without knowing about multi Frequency! I am disable so on a limited income :( But I have saved up and now I will be buying the Legend! Was looking at the Nox 800 but with all the research I decided on Legend because it is cheaper and just as good! I look forward to posting some of my finds :)
Yes it does. Those are wildcards. They make them with a coat of wax which makes them last longer without corrosion. But there is no consistent target ID for a bottle cap. Nokta Makro Legend Target ID (VDI) Biblehttps://youtu.be/h9_Wh99ci18
Wow! I experienced the opposite. If anything signals that have space between the object and the coil ring up noticeably lower. If I understand correctly you are saying that a nickel is ringing up like a quarter with spacing.
@Merrill Kazanjian what I meant to say is that "bottlecaps" are reading like nickel VDI (mid 20's) at coil to soil swing. But if I raise could to about 3.5" or more that signal now jumps to 50's VDI. When the grass is tall those bottlecaps will actually be quarters now. Hope that makes sense now.
Hey everyone, I know, I know dig all.but lets set that aside for a minute and tell me what you guys are doing for bottle caps or crown caps for you aussies. Bottle caps are coming in at mid 20 signal consistently @ about 1-1.5" off the soil. Now, if you raise your Coil to about 3-3.5" that nickel mid 20 signal now doubles to a 50-54 signal which is now a u.s. quarter, anyone having the same results?, I love quarters, but if you dig it ,it's a 50/50 probability that it's a quarter or a crowncap. You might ask why am I raising the Coil 3"? Sometimes the grass is so tall, that's about as close as I can get to the grass. So let me hear what you guys are doing for bottlecaps,"OTHER THAN DIG ALL" Thanks
I really like it now that I am running update .07 I used the Equinox 600 for several years with great success, but my first one flooded and I broke the coil ears on my second one. Just hated waiting for new coil or machine. The Legend seems like a tougher build, and so far may be just a touch deeper than the 600. So far so good!
