I've been metal detecting since I started going dectecting as a kid with my Father and his kit built BFO Radio Shack detector in the 70's. I've used mostly Whites, Fisher, and Garrett. Just bought my first Minelab. Tips for a new X-Terra Pro owner?

Be sure to check out the Target ID Bible on this website.
I just started with mine. My learning curve got interrupted by beach season. My early observations are that 1.) the target ID is relatively worthless 2.) it is really good with depth and separation. It’s a true dig that beep machine. I’m not seeing much of a performance difference between frequencies. Don’t focus on what it can’t do (target id) and focus on what it can and you will be very happy.
